Yukon CPA CPD Requirements at a Glance
The chart below summarizes the core CPD requirements every CPA should know:

CPD Reporting Period and Deadline
CPA Yukon uses the calendar year for CPD reporting. Members complete CPD between January 1 and December 31 and must deliver an annual compliance report by January 31. If a member has outstanding CPD requirements under the late completion rules, the deadline to satisfy those outstanding requirements and submit the compliance report is March 31.
CPA Yukon Continuing Professional Development Requirements
CPA Yukon’s framework combines annual and rolling requirements. Members need at least 20 hours each year, but they also need to stay on pace for 120 total hours over the rolling 3-calendar-year period. At least half of both the annual and rolling totals must be verifiable, and the rolling total must include at least 4 ethics hours.
Total CPD Hours Required
CPA Yukon requires at least 120 total CPD hours in each rolling 3-calendar-year period. Of those 120 hours, at least 60 must be verifiable.
Annual Minimum Requirement
CPA Yukon requires at least 20 hours of CPD each calendar year. At least 10 of those annual hours must be verifiable.
Rolling 3-Year Requirement
CPA Yukon specifically uses a rolling 3-calendar-year period. That means members need to think beyond the current year and make sure the total across the relevant three calendar years still reaches 120 hours, including 60 verifiable hours and 4 ethics hours.
Verifiable vs Non-Verifiable CPD
CPA Yukon distinguishes between qualifying hours and verifiable qualifying hours. Verifiable qualifying hours are hours for which there is satisfactory evidence to objectively verify participation in the learning activity. This matters because members need at least 10 verifiable hours annually and at least 60 verifiable hours over the rolling 3-year period.
Professional Ethics Requirement
CPA Yukon requires at least 4 verifiable ethics hours in each rolling 3-calendar-year period. These ethics hours are part of the broader 120-hour total, not in addition to it.
Anti-Money Laundering Requirement
CPA Yukon has also added a separate anti-money laundering learning requirement. Every member must complete at least 1.5 AML hours by the later of December 31, 2027 or the end of the second calendar year following the calendar year of initial admission as a member. CPA Yukon also says these AML hours may count as ethics hours for the applicable calendar year or rolling 3-year period.
New CPA Yukon Members
CPA Yukon applies the annual requirement starting in the calendar year of admission. The rolling 3-calendar-year requirement starts with the three-calendar-year period that begins in the calendar year of admission. That means new members do not need to wait for a later cycle before they begin tracking annual CPD.
Foreign Qualified Members
CPA Yukon has an additional post-admission requirement for certain members admitted on the basis of membership in a professional body outside Canada and Bermuda. Those members may be required to complete coursework within two years of admission, potentially in areas such as the Canadian profession, Canadian tax, or Canadian law relevant to the profession. Hours completed for this coursework may count toward the member’s CPD hours.
Reporting and Documentation
CPA Yukon requires members to retain documentation supporting completion of verifiable qualifying hours for at least five years after the end of the calendar year in which the hours were completed. In practice, that means members should keep organized proof of attendance, completion, or participation for any verifiable learning they plan to report.
CPA Yukon CPD Courses: What to Know
For CPA Yukon members, the most important planning points are:
- reaching at least 20 hours each calendar year
- making sure at least 10 annual hours are verifiable
- staying on pace for 120 hours over the rolling 3-calendar-year period
- completing 4 verifiable ethics hours within the rolling period
- completing 1.5 verifiable AML hours by the applicable deadline
- keeping documentation for at least 5 years
Because Yukon’s framework combines annual minimums, rolling totals, ethics, and AML, many members will find it easier to spread CPD across the year rather than trying to catch up close to the reporting deadline.
Audio-Based Learning and LumiQ
LumiQ provides structured, expert-led audio learning designed to fit professional development into daily life. For CPA Yukon members, the key question is whether the activity qualifies as CPD under Yukon’s framework and whether it can be properly evidenced if claimed as verifiable learning. Members remain responsible for determining whether a particular activity fits their annual requirement, rolling 3-year requirement, ethics requirement, and AML requirement where applicable. CPA Yukon remains the final authority on compliance.
