Most ACCA members follow the unit route: 40 units of CPD each year, made up of at least 21 verifiable units and up to 19 non-verifiable units, where one unit equals one hour of learning. Non-verifiable CPD is general learning relevant to your work, such as reading, while verifiable CPD must be evidenced.
If you complete more than 21 verifiable units in a year, you can carry up to 21 excess verifiable units forward to the next CPD year. Requirements can change, so confirm the current rules with ACCA.
ACCA treats an activity as verifiable CPD when you can answer yes to three questions: Was the learning relevant to your career? Can you explain how you have applied the learning in the workplace? Can you provide evidence that you undertook the activity?
ACCA states that any learning activity can count as verifiable CPD if it meets this test, and its guidance lists online courses, webinars, and podcasts among acceptable learning methods. A certificate of completion is strong evidence that the activity took place.
Yes. Beyond the standard unit route, ACCA offers a part-time or semi-retired variant of the unit route for members employed 770 hours or less in a CPD year (19 non-verifiable units plus a self-determined level of verifiable CPD, not available for audit or other regulated work), the ACCA Approved Employer route, and the IFAC body route for members who also belong to another IFAC member body with a compliant CPD programme.
All ACCA members, whichever route they follow, must submit an annual CPD declaration through myACCA by 1 January following the end of the CPD year. Keep evidence of your verifiable units in case ACCA reviews your CPD record.
ACCA's CPD guidance lists podcasts among acceptable learning methods, alongside online courses and webinars. A podcast-based course can count as verifiable CPD when it is relevant to your role, you can explain how you applied the learning, and you have evidence of completion.
Every LumiQ course contains chapter quizzes and a downloadable certificate of completion, which provides the evidence element of ACCA's verifiable CPD test. Members remain responsible for confirming that a given course is relevant to their own development needs.
LumiQ courses meet verifiable CPD requirements for accounting and finance professionals worldwide, including the UK. Your certificate of completion documents the course and the professional development hours earned, giving you the evidence ACCA's verifiable CPD test asks for.
Because each member's CPD must be relevant to their own role and career, ACCA members are responsible for confirming that a specific course supports their development objectives.
Podcasts can deliver superior learning outcomes compared to live webinars and recorded webcasts. Audio-only formats reduce cognitive overload and "Zoom fatigue," allowing your brain to retain information better. Additionally, unlike live or in-person options, you can pause and replay complex technical concepts as needed for comprehension.
Podcasts also fit your schedule and your life better. Unlike live webinars with fixed start times, podcasts let you earn CPD during your commute, between clients, or whenever works best.
In short, you get the same unit hours with better retention and zero scheduling conflicts.
CPD units or hours vary by course. Typically they range from 1 to 2 hours per podcast and 3 to 9 hours for our in-depth, multi-episode learning paths. Each course listing clearly displays the hours you'll earn upon completion. All hours are earned once you complete the podcast episode and chapter quizzes in full.
