CPD hours vary by course. Typically they range from 1 to 2 hours per podcast and 3 to 9 hours for an in-depth, multi-episode learning path. Each course listing clearly displays the hours you'll earn on completion. All hours are earned once you listen to the podcast episode in full and pass the chapter quizzes.
Fraud is the most common crime measured by the Crime Survey for England and Wales, which estimated 4.5 million fraud incidents in the year ending March 2026, roughly two-fifths of all crime it measures, and that excludes fraud against businesses.
The regulatory bar has risen too. Since 1 September 2025, large organisations can be criminally liable under the failure to prevent fraud offence in the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 if an employee or agent commits fraud for the organisation's benefit. The only defence is having reasonable fraud prevention procedures in place, and staff training is one of the six principles in the Home Office guidance, which is why failure to prevent fraud training is now on most audit committee agendas.
Fraud CPD helps accountants, auditors and compliance officers build the fraud risk assessment, fraud detection and prevention strategies those procedures depend on.
Requirements vary by professional body:
ICAEW: Total annual CPD hours depend on your CPD category (from 20 hours with 10 verifiable up to 40 hours with 30 verifiable), plus a mandatory minimum of 1 verifiable hour of ethics CPD every year.
ACCA: The standard route is 40 units of CPD per year (1 unit = 1 hour), of which at least 21 units must be verifiable.
CIOT and ATT: Since 1 January 2023 there is no fixed minimum-hours requirement; members undertake CPD appropriate to their duties and self-certify annually.
ACFE (Certified Fraud Examiners): CFEs must earn at least 20 CPE credits each year, including a minimum of 10 directly related to fraud detection or deterrence and 2 in ethics. ACFE uses the term CPE; LumiQ fraud episodes can be reported towards it.
Yes. Financial advisers, wealth managers and paraplanners face the same scams their clients do, from authorised push payment fraud to AI-enabled impersonation. Firms training financial advisers in fraud prevention can use LumiQ episodes as structured, verifiable CPD, with a certificate of completion for each one. Because the content is audio-first, it fits around client meetings rather than requiring a classroom day.
Our library spans forensic accounting and fraud investigations, financial statement fraud and the red flags that reveal it, misappropriation of assets, bribery and corruption, whistleblowing, cybercrime and AI-enabled scams, insider trading, and the internal audit and corporate governance failures behind the biggest financial misconduct cases of the last decade. If you are comparing fraud investigation courses or fraud awareness training, this is the same ground covered through real cases rather than slides.
